Time for something a little bit different, but also not really. During 2025, Alena Kroker, Markus Spitta and myself have been working on a short documentary, Solidarity in Motion, funded by Clubcommission Berlin. The short film tries to shows the structures of solidarity within Berlin’s club culture—a culture that thrives on cohesion, openness, and diversity.

I had an amazing time working very closely with Alena, visiting such a variety of spaces and the people that turn them into networks and communities. It was an incredibly inspiring time, framed by massive culture funding cuts in Berlin that make the work behind these events even more precarious. Her research and approach when engaging with the protagonists made every interaction one coined by sympathy, interest and respect. The project was a reminder that where ever you look closely, there are structures of solidarity and community. Markus’ talent not only with editing but also with sound design turned this into a very special piece to me.

Solidarity in Motion was created as part of DAB—Diversitygerechtes Ausgehen in Berlin (Diversity-Friendly Nightlife in Berlin), a project that has lived and promoted these values for over five years.
